How do I handle a credit or an invoice correction?

Use the invoice's supported correction controls so its original document and history remain traceable.

Before you start

You need the appropriate billing permission and a verified reason for the adjustment.

What to do

  1. Open the original invoice and inspect its status, payments and existing related documents.
  2. Choose the supported credit, cancellation or correction action offered for that state.
  3. Review the affected amount, currency, tax treatment and document relationship.
  4. Confirm the saved result and use a separate delivery or refund process only when required.

What happens next

The original record and the accepted adjustment remain distinguishable in the invoice history.

If something goes wrong

A credit note is not itself proof that money was refunded. Do not delete or rewrite an issued document to hide the original transaction.
