How do task deadlines and repeating tasks work?

A task can have a deadline and repeat settings. Completing an eligible repeating occurrence can create its next pending occurrence; this is separate from recurring invoices in Midas.

Before you start

You need edit permission for the task. Review the intended schedule and any linked prerequisite work before changing or completing it.

What to do

  1. Open the task editor and review the deadline in the provided date controls. Use an explicit deadline when you need a particular schedule anchor.
  2. Enable Repeat task when the work should recur. Choose daily, weekly, monthly or yearly, and set the positive Every interval offered by the editor.
  3. If using a repeat end date, choose a date on or after the task's deadline. Review the interval and dates together before saving.
  4. When editing other fields, leave an existing deadline preserved if you do not intend to change it. Use the offered change, keep or clear controls to state the intended deadline action, and review their message before saving.
  5. Save, reopen the task and confirm the accepted deadline and repeat settings.
  6. When the current work is complete, complete that occurrence and inspect the next pending task and its deadline. Check whether a successor already exists before creating a manual duplicate.
  7. To stop repetition for an occurrence, clear its repeat setting and save. Check separately any future occurrences that were already created rather than assuming that one edit changes them all.

What happens next

An eligible transition to completed creates the next pending occurrence unless its calculated deadline is beyond the repeat end date. The new task retains the copied project, work and assignment settings from the recurring occurrence.

If something goes wrong

A next task may not be expected after the end date, and an existing successor should not be mistaken for missing work. Check the saved deadline, repeat interval, end date and current filters. If the task changed in another session, retain your intended edits before loading the latest version. Contact Yasa with the task reference and displayed dates if the next occurrence remains unclear.
