How do I create a database for the correct hosted application?

A database is created under a selected hosting account and has separate database-user credentials.

Before you start

You need hosting-write permission for the intended resource. Confirm the website, environment and hosting account before creating a new database; an existing application may already have the database it needs.

What to do

  1. Open Databases and choose Create database. Check the selected hosting account, especially when working with staging and production.
  2. Enter the intended database name and database username. Nexus adds the hosting-account prefix; inspect the accepted full names afterward rather than guessing them.
  3. Enter a private database password following the form’s requirements and submit once. Check Operations and the database list for the saved result.
  4. Configure the intended application through its approved private setup process using the accepted connection details. Keep credentials out of public Help, screenshots and source repositories.

What happens next

The hosting inventory shows the accepted database and user under the selected account. Creating it does not migrate tables, import another application’s records or change the application’s existing configuration.

If something goes wrong

Check naming, account permission, plan limits and the operation result if creation fails. After uncertainty, inspect the list before repeating. Do not overwrite or delete an existing database to resolve a connection problem; ask the hosting administrator about the exact application and environment.
