How do I create or update a website project?

A website project connects a name and project identifier to a hosting account and its staging and production domains. A project record is separate from a working website or a reviewed design release.

Before you start

You need the hosting management permissions for the intended account. Check domain ownership, existing websites and assignments before creating another project.

What to do

  1. Open Web hosting and search the website projects by project name, identifier, hosting account or domain. Check for an existing record before creating one.
  2. When New project is available, enter the customer or project name, a clear project identifier and the intended existing hosting account.
  3. Review the staging hostname and production domain separately. Enter only the domains intended for this project, then add useful notes without credentials.
  4. Save and wait for confirmation. Reopen the project and check each environment's domain and hosting state; a saved domain can still show that hosting is not set up.
  5. Use Details for the editable project fields. If a production domain was not set, use the offered field to add the intended domain. Use Manage website for an environment that is actually provisioned.

What happens next

The project list retains the accepted project details and shows the state of its separate environments. Saving the project record does not itself prove that DNS, hosting, HTTPS, WordPress or production publication is complete.

If something goes wrong

Clear a search filter if the project seems missing. A read-only or resource-assigned view may not offer creation or editing. If saving is uncertain, inspect the existing record before creating a duplicate. Contact the infrastructure administrator with the project identifier, exact domain and displayed state.
