How do I create a hosted mail domain and mailbox?

A hosted mail domain groups its mailboxes. Mailbox credentials and mail delivery configuration are separate from a personal Account profile.

Before you start

Use an administrator with the required hosting-write permission and authority over the intended email domain and hosting account. Confirm the domain’s mail-routing and authentication requirements before changing delivery.

What to do

  1. Open Email and inspect existing mail domains first. If the domain is missing, choose Create mail domain, select the correct hosting account and enter the intended domain.
  2. Open View mailboxes for that domain to inspect existing addresses, storage use, quota and enabled or suspended state.
  3. Use Create mailbox for the intended domain. Enter only the mailbox name before @, a private mailbox password and the intended quota in MiB; review the resulting full email address.
  4. Submit once and inspect Operations and View mailboxes for the accepted result. Use Open Webmail with the mailbox’s own authorised sign-in information.
  5. Ask the domain administrator to verify the actual mail DNS and authentication configuration. A created domain or DKIM status alone does not prove that all incoming and outgoing delivery works.

What happens next

The mail domain and accepted mailbox appear in hosting inventory with their recorded state and quota. Creation does not grant Nexus access to the mailbox user or change a shared Account password.

If something goes wrong

Check the intended hosting account, domain, mailbox name, password and quota when creation fails. A suspended or full mailbox needs administrator review. Preserve existing mail routing when a domain already uses another provider, and do not change DNS merely because a new mailbox was created.
