How do I create a game server from an installed template?

The game-server form combines an installed template with a selected game node, resource limits and allocated ports.

Before you start

You need game-management permission, a prepared node with capacity and unused allocations, and a suitable installed template. Check the game’s requirements and any credentials before creating the server.

What to do

  1. Open Game servers and choose the create action, or use Use template on the intended installed template. Select the correct game node and give the server a recognisable name.
  2. Review the template after selecting it: changing templates resets the template-dependent defaults. Check the public game port, memory and disk in MiB and CPU limit; the form describes 100% as one CPU core.
  3. Fill the template’s displayed editable variables. For Project Zomboid, check the secondary UDP port and the displayed administrator-password requirements. Keep all password fields private.
  4. Add extra allocated ports only when required. Leave the custom startup command and container image at the template defaults unless you understand the intended override. Advanced environment overrides must be a JSON object and override the corresponding template fields.
  5. Review and submit once, then inspect Operations and reopen the created server. Check its installation state, console and connection information before assuming players can join.

What happens next

The created server has its own accepted node, template, resources and ports. Creation, completed installation, a running process and a reachable player connection are separate states.

If something goes wrong

Check unused allocations, node capacity, valid environment JSON and required template fields when validation fails. After an uncertain create, inspect the server list and Operations before submitting again. Ask the game administrator about game-specific configuration or network failures; never share administrator credentials.
