How do I browse, edit, upload or remove files in Nexus?

File controls operate on a selected server or game resource and path. The administrator's general file manager is broader than a website's resource-scoped SFTP connection.

Before you start

You need the relevant file-reading or file-writing capability and authority for the intended target. Preserve the affected predecessor before replacing or deleting existing material.

What to do

  1. Open the permitted File manager and select the correct server target, or open Files within the intended game server. Check the full path before proceeding.
  2. Open a directory or enter its path to browse it. Use the parent-directory and refresh controls when needed; inspect file names, size, modification time and permissions where shown.
  3. Open a supported text file to inspect its contents. If Save file is available and the change is authorised, preserve the old contents, make the intended edit and review the final saved file.
  4. For a new item, use the offered folder, text-file or upload control. Check the destination and existing names first, then inspect the resulting list and file after completion.
  5. Use Download for a file when offered, and store sensitive material privately. Rename changes the selected item's name; review the old and new path before saving.
  6. Delete requires the displayed target confirmation. Use it only when removal of that exact item is intended, with a recovery plan, then inspect the actual result before repeating an uncertain operation.

What happens next

The selected path shows the accepted file operation. Reading, downloading or changing one target does not grant permission to unrelated hosts, accounts or environments.

If something goes wrong

Check the selected target, path and role when a file is missing, unreadable or read-only. A symlink indicator deserves checking the actual intended destination before changing material. Do not repeat an uncertain upload or write until the saved state is inspected. Contact the infrastructure administrator with the target, path and error, excluding file contents that contain credentials or private customer data.
