How do I inspect or import a custom game template?

Installed game templates supply server defaults and editable variables. A custom template may install and run software on the selected hosting infrastructure.

Before you start

Importing requires the system-management permission shown by Nexus. Use only a template whose origin, installation steps and requirements you are authorised to trust.

What to do

  1. Open the game-template list and inspect the installed template name and available information before choosing Use template.
  2. If a suitable template is missing and you have the required permission, choose Import template. Review the entire Pterodactyl egg JSON and the intended nest before submitting it.
  3. Check Operations for the import result and inspect the installed-template list afterward. Do not repeat an uncertain import before checking whether it already succeeded.
  4. Use the installed template through the separate game-server creation form, reviewing its variables, ports, image, startup command and resource limits for that server.

What happens next

An accepted import makes the template available for subsequent server creation; it does not itself create, start or verify a game server.

If something goes wrong

Invalid JSON, unsupported template requirements or missing permission must be resolved before creation. If you cannot review what the template installs, ask the infrastructure administrator. Do not copy secrets into a reusable template or treat a familiar game name as proof that its installation is safe.
