Before you start
Sign in to the intended mailbox and review which messages you want to move.
What to do
- Select the intended message or messages in Mail and choose Archive when offered.
- Check the confirmation and open the archive folder to verify the messages. If new archive folders were created, reload the folder list when the interface asks.
- To review the archive destination, open Settings, Preferences and Special Folders. Inspect the archive folder and any offered grouping options before changing and saving them.
- When looking for an archived message, include the archive folder or relevant archive subfolder in your search scope.
What happens next
The accepted messages are stored in the configured archive destination and remain available within the mailbox.
If something goes wrong
Archiving does not free mailbox storage simply by moving messages to another folder in the same account. Check the archive destination, folder subscription and search scope before assuming messages vanished. Report a partial archive error to the mailbox administrator rather than deleting the source messages.
